27 Killed by Earthquake in China

An earthquake which hit China’s Sichuan and Yunnan provinces has killed 27 people and injured more than 350 people. It has damaged or destroyed more than 180,000 homes and affected at least 800,000 residents. According to US Geological survey, the epicenter of the quake was about 30 Km southeast of Panzhihua, near Sichuan’s border with Yunnan. The earthquake was about 10 Km deep. The US Geological survey put the magnitude of the earthquake at 5.7, while China’s Official Xinhua news agency said it to be of 6.1 Richter. State media showed pictures of houses with large cracks in their sides, broken tiles on the road and people receiving medical care under tents
