Save Children — Abolish Child Labor

Every child in this world deserves an opportunity to study and build a career. But unfortunately children all over the world especially in under developed and developing economies face great challenges. Child abuse is rampant and some have become customs in the society. In India, domestic maid servants are young females or children in the age group of 10 to 15 years. The condition is pathetic. Even they are forced to work in small factories, where safety measures are nil.

Despite of several legislations, infant mortality and child labor is rampant every where. The cases filed or surveys made do not give true picture. Often the families increase the age of the child in paper so that the can work. The need of the hour is to provide an alternative income source to the families so that they do send their ward to school instead to work and can provide balance nutrition.

Fight for child rights can only be sustained only when it’s clubbed with poverty eradication schemes. National Rural Employment Generation Scheme of Government of India guarantees 100 days work to rural poor. But if compulsory attendance of the children of the family was made a clause to get benefit of the scheme then more children would have received education.
